McCleery Family Durocs, where deliciousness and quality is tasted in every bite of our all-natural, Texas raised Duroc pork. Our family owned and operated farm has been raising pigs since 1985; building off the established
foundation of our close friends at Harms Farms. When we gathered around our dinner table, you could taste the difference in the pork we raised. It was more juicy, flavorful and would just melt in your mouth. So began our commitment and
new venture to bring it to your table. Through
collaboration with swine specialists in genetics
and meat quality, we identified superior genetics
in our pigs that delivered a highly nutritious,
premium pork product.
Our farm was built with a conscious effort of respect to our animals, environment and community. These principles drive us everyday, from sun up to sun down. Raising pigs is our heritage and our future, and we take great pride in doing things the right way to provide consistent, high-end pork to our customers. At McCleery Family Durocs, we mix old farming traditions with modern techniques to raise the best pork possible. Our locally bred and fed Duroc pigs are produced in the most humane way, because properly cared for and healthy pigs equals safe and wholesome pork. Being a pig farmer is our passion, and we want that passion to be visible in the way we run our farm.
Durocs are a 200-year-old heritage breed that was first bred in the United States in 1812. Originally known as red hogs, Durocs are a
reddish color with drooping ears. Not only did the Duroc breed quickly gain widespread popularity due to their longevity, growth and muscling, but today their outstanding pork quality is even more established and sought after.
Whether it’s a chef in a restaurant, or a parent getting ready to grill, Duroc pork is recognized by pork enthusiasts for its unmatched eating qualities and exceptional visual appeal. Research conducted by the American Meat Science Association (AMSA) and National Pork Board (NPB) confirms consumers opinions, proving that Duroc meat has a richer, more desirable color, superior marbling and a higher pH; all these attributes combined result in a savory, quality product that you want to put on your family’s plate.
McCleery Family Durocs strives to produce the most tender and juiciest pork for our customers. With selection emphasis on premium eating characteristics, we were able to identify which of our pigs are backed with excellent genetics that measure exceptional in the areas that determine a quality eating experience.
